Does a hip hop beat matter?
Posted on Sep 17, 2008 under Music |Somebody recently asked me to consider rap music and hip hop in general–what is it that makes you like a song? A study I once read said that all there was to music was the bass line–the pounding was like a drug on your brain, forcing it to release endorphins and causing pleasure for your brain.
So when a rap star is consider buying hip hop beats what does he do? Does he see which song gives him the biggest rush, what feels right or does he measure things like bass content and other rap beat components that cause the brain to register pleasure?
It’s definitely something worth looking into…
